Baby Dedication

Sunday, August 23, 2009 Emma was Dedicated. Blake's parents and my parents were here for it. My brother Jonathan and his girlfriend came too. I think Blake's sister Jill and family were able to watch it on Skype. We appreciated Pastor Chris Dawes performing the dedication and praying a special prayer and prophecy especially for Emma. May she know Jesus and understand who He is at an early age. Yes, I cried through the whole prayer. Such hope for one's child...

Here are some pictures of Blake's parents' visit and of the dedication.

Shots at 7 weeks old

Emma got 3 shots today. I held her hands and leaned my cheek on hers and tried talking to her while they were giving her the shots in her thighs. She cried so hard. The nurse blew in her face so Emma would catch her breath. She's been sleeping a lot ever since. She hasn't eaten as much as usual either, but both are mild side effects.

Sunday, I noticed a redness in her left eye on the white part below the colored part. She has a broken blood vessel which is common. It looks better already.

She's smiling back at us a lot now. The morning Grandma Lala was leaving Emma gave her lots of smiles. What a treat!

She is 11.4 lbs. and 22.5 in. now. So, she is in the 75th percentile for weight and 50th for length. She's not as little as before but people still love to call her a "peanut". Funny!

6 weeks old

I tried posting a couple videos yesterday and it didn't work. But one did today after hours of the other one "loading" and not really loading. So, you can see one! She turned 6 weeks old the day before this (Wed.). She smiles closer to the end.

I weighed her and she was 10 lb. 5.5 oz. on Tuesday. She is definitely growing.

Enjoy!

Celebrating Daddy's birthday at Paradiso

Emma slept the whole time other than when we tried putting her in her carseat. Then she would cry, so we took turns holding her.

5 weeks

I weighed her today and Emma is 9 lb. 11 oz with a clean diaper on. This is 2 lbs. more than her birth weight.

Almost 5 weeks

Since I last wrote...

Over a month old

Emma doesn't really seem colicky, so we are relieved about that. She hasn't had any more rashes either, other than a little diaper rash. She still loves to be held. I love snuggling her too but would like to get a few more things done. A shower is a big accomplishment for the day. She has had to sit in the bouncer in the bathroom which she is getting used to. Emma is becoming more aware of her surroundings which helps her keep distracted that she isn't being held.

Emmitt absolutely loves "protecting" her. He also can't help himself when it comes to her fingers and toes...he has to lick them every chance he gets. He seems to get a bit worried if she is crying, but won't usually bark. He just looks at us like he is asking if we're going to do something about it.

My mom bought us a baby scale so that is handy to know if she is gaining weight. Even without the scale I can tell she is heavier. I've also noticed her cheeks have filled out more and her thighs are getting more chubby. So cute....when you're a baby!

She smiles a lot in her sleep like the first video that I posted. I realize that in that video she was in what they call "active sleep". Lots of eye movement and mouth movements.

I think she cooed at me today when I was talking to her. It will be fun to interact more as she becomes more aware of her surroundings and her abilities mature.

If you have any questions just post a comment. I'm not sure what you want to know or what I have missed. Thanks for reading.
